Buzz is that Ravi Chopra has finally found the female lead for his ambitious project, Kohinoor. The film marks the debut of his sons, Abhay, as director, and Kapil, as an actor. Salman Khan has reportedly committed to make a significant appearance in the film which is scheduled to take off early next year.
Heroine hunt
Some time ago, Ravi Chopra had approached Priyanka Chopra to act in the film, said to revolve around a diamond heist. He had hoped she’d give her nod to the project given that her father, Dr Ashok Chopra, is a good friend and the two families are close. But it seems Priyanka was not keen and instead of keeping the Chopras hanging, declined politely. An industry source reveals that the veteran filmmaker then approached Genelia D’Souza. And the vivacious actress liked the script.

Cameo impact
Our source also informs us that Salman has assured Ravi Chopra of getting Katrina Kaif on board for a special appearance in the movie. “It’s a small part but important to the plot. The character is not just significant to the proceedings but also provides the mysterious twist in the story,” elaborates our source.

The heist film was supposed to start earlier this year but Abhay took time to rework on the script, particularly the portion leading to the heist and what happens immediately afterwards.
When contacted, Ravi Chopra declined to confirm the news but he didn’t deny it either. “I’m not saying anything at the moment. I’ll make the formal announcement soon, once everything is finalised. I’m planning to start the film in February,” is all he is willing to say, for now.
